Aituaje IruobeWaje was born in Akure, Ondo State in Nigeria but grew up in Benin City, Edo State. She is the first child and daughter of the family. As a teenager, she sang in choirs,gained scholarship at the Word Of Faith group of schools cause of her gift. She studied Social Work at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Played in concerts, camp meetings and fellowships. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, Waje honed her music skills and was soon a popular performer in the state by the time she released her single ‘For A Min’, Waje had cemented her position as one of Nigeria’s biggest acts to watch. Since then, she has gone on to release her debut albums and has enjoyed both critical and commercial acclaim as one of Africa’s most respected musicians.


The African singer, song writer Waje, with a music career of over a decade is in a league of her own. Her debut album titled W.A.J.E, was released on the 1st of May 2013 via a historic live Google+ hangout with fans joining in from around the world, which trended
globally at no 4 on Twitter. She has proceeded to release 2 albums afterwards, the latest being the Red Velvet album. Waje’s hits include the critically acclaimed sleeper hit ‘I Wish’, Onye ft Tiwa Savage and Coco Baby ft Diamond Platnumz which was Nigeria’s most played song in December 2014. Waje’s reggae song’Left For Good’ ft Patoranking debuted at No 3 in Nigeria’s Itunes charts, she has also collaborated with some of Africa’s biggest acts, churning out smash hit singles like, ONE NAIRA with M.I and DO ME with P Square, Mountain feat south african platinum singer Lira, and Udue Featuring Johnny Drille on her latest album “Red Velvet” is currently on all top charts in Africa With a sold outsuccessful concert termed “Red Velvet” All over the continent, the Divas brand is described as soulfull Electric describing her sound as Afro fusion with a blend of soulful rythms ,strong percussions, wailing muted trumpets and a distinct traditional guitar interpretation. She is known for her electrifying stage presence and resonating performances, touring and headlining shows across Africa and has positioned herself as a role model using her platform to raise young artists who seek to find
expression of their art.


Waje’s debut into acting started in a 2010 stage play titled “OLUROMBI” along side Yinka Davies and Omawumi, then she followed up with another stage play “EWURO” produced by Tim Godfrey.
Her first feature film was the “TUNNEL” and then the “HEAVENS HELL” a telenovela battle ground, a cameo appearance in the movie Fifty which was produced by Tope Oshin and many more. In 2019 Waje and Omawumi introduced their media company “Hermanes media” with their first movie and debuted as producers of their first movie “She Is”.


In 2012 the singer songwriter started a platform WAJE SAFE HOUSE with the goal of collaborating with NGOs every quater to amplify their causes which included being THE VOICE for women and children by tackling issues around Education, Health, Good governance, Gender based violence and many more. A helping hand is said to be the key to greatness.

She headlined the song ‘Strong girl’ which is the theme song for the ONE Campaign “Poverty is Sexist” in 2015 and also joined Bono in Lagos, Nigeria for the Lagos campaign in 2015. In that same year, she was named one of the top 10 female artistes in Africa by Channel O.
She was one of the four judges at the maiden edition of The Voice Nigeria, in which her team won. She was also on the show in 2016
Waje has collaborated with the following NGO’s; One.Org : “Poverty is sexist” and “make naija stronger” She continues to be an ambassador for One campaign.

She was invited with other African leaders to attend the Mandela lecture given by President Barack Obama.
In 2018, she was Selected as one of Lancôme’s heroes in Nigeria,
she was featured on Forbes Woman Africa in 2018
She was featured on CNN African voice for the African Women project on 2014.


Waje has received over 20 awards and nominations worldwide including a Channel O Music Award, 4 World Music Award nominations in 2014 alongside Femi Kuti, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and others.
Her Awards includes the Best Female Performer at the SOUTH SOUTH AWARDS 2010, In 2011, the Best female vocalist Awards at the HEADIES , the best Female Vocalist at the NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS, the Best Rhythm and Blues Singer at the CITY PEOPLE ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS and lastly the Best African Art at the DEAFA Afro-Europe Entertainment Awards.
In 2013 the singer, song writer Waje further bagged a deuce Award at the HEADIES Awards 2013 as the best reggae/dance hall and as the musician of the year at the CITY PEOPLE AWARDS.
She also got honored at the ELOY AWARDS as the Best Female Artist in 2014
